All Over The World

December 24, 2011: It is Christmas at Grandpa’s. We are in a village that is not so small any more – Pulincunoo, Kerala. I have my friend Patricia from Germany, now working with Bosch India joining my family for Christmas. The family is assembled in the portico in the evening, putting up the Christmas tree and star. There is a feeling of jubilation and the melody of carols from the nearby church comes drifting lightly. We hum along as we engross ourselves in the decorations. At one moment, I realize that while the church choir was singing a carol in Malayalam, I was singing to the same tune in English, and Patricia in German. I don’t know if it is to do with Christmas (religion) or music or just mankind… But somethings just don’t seem to change the world over!
